Written by Sean Redfearn
Search Engine Marketing Specialists

Red-Fern Media are proving to be one of the leading SEO specialists in the Manchester area

As the seemingly on going credit crunch and slow recovery for many small businesses keep grabbing the headlines on the news, getting the most out of your business and website is increasingly harder and harder.

Over the last 12 months many of Red-Fern Media's customers have undertaken search engine campaigns with us and are now reaping the rewards with 1st page positioning on google for many of their main keywords.

How do we do this? You ask... Read On!

Marketing Strategy and Careful Planning

In this news article we are going to go through the lifecycle of a website and most importantly the lifecycle of how you market your website. Over the last 12 months many of the customers that have undertaken a 'search engine optimisation' campaign with us, have now started hitting the 1st page of all the major search engines and their websites are receiving the hits we estimated and most importantly they are making increased sales.

Below we have detailed the different stages of how we set out a marketing strategy for individual websites.

Stage 1 - Select Your Keywords

Before we start any online marketing or search engine optimisation campaign we need to decide what keywords we want to target to get those customers finding your website.
Below I have detailed the way in which we do this:-

Target Your Keywords:

  • Depending on what scale of search engine campaign you are undertaking we need to decide which keywords you want to target to get that 1st page positioning.
(Obviously depending on which industry you're in can have an effect on how competitive the keywords are you will be targeting)
  • We choose keywords based around one main keyword. For example we may choose the keyword 'Web Design'.
We would then choose variations of this keyword. For example 'Cheap Web Design', 'Web Design Company', Web Design Company Manchester' and so on.

Once we have researched which keywords your campaign should be targeting we will then start stage 2.

Stage 2 - Onsite Optimisation

There are certain procedures any self-respecting web design company will follow when making your website live on the internet, these procedures will ensure that the site is indexed to it's highest ranking position without any link building or search engine optimisation.

Every website that Red-Fern Media builds is optimised ready for the search engines, we will have built the site with the keywords in the correct places and followed the criteria we know works to start getting your site ranked on all the major search engines within the first couple of weeks, this procedure is called 'Onsite Optimisation'.

Stage 3 - Link Building, Article Submissions, Social Bookmarking + more

As with any website there is only so much onsite optimisation you can do to get the highest ranking possible before you have to undertake the next step to gain those all important 1st page rankings for your major keywords.

Link Building is probably the most time consuming part of marketing any website, below I have listed in order the processes involved and a brief description for each process:-

Link Building:
We will now take you chosen keywords and start building high quality links on other websites that point directly back to yours to start increasing the popularity of your site.

Article Submission:
We will submit professional written articles about your industry to specific high ranking article submission websites. Once these articles are submitted specific links are added to them to start increasing the link weight popularity of your website.

Social Bookmarking:
We submit social bookmarks with links to relevant websites to further enhance your search engine campaign.

Directory Submissions:
We submit your website to some of the highest raked directories on the internet.

The processes above are actioned each month to show a natural link building porcess for your website, you cannot trick the search engines anymore with link farms and link directories.
