Social Media Executive
DESCRIBE AN AVERAGE WORKING DAY FOR YOU AT RED FERN
I split my time between Red-Fern and client social accounts, so I’m either editing photos, scheduling posts or strategising our next social media campaign.
HOW DOES THE RED FERN WORKING ENVIRONMENT DIFFER TO THE OTHER ENVIRONMENTS YOU’VE WORKED IN?
I worked in-house before starting at Red-Fern, so it’s different in that I’m juggling accounts for lots of clients. I like it that way as it keeps things interesting, and means I never get bored!
HOW DID YOU END UP IN DIGITAL MARKETING?
I studied journalism at university, like Dean. I’ve grown up with social media and realised I have a good understanding of what works and what doesn’t. I was working in hospitality when I asked the boss if he needed someone to manage the social, and he gave me the job!
WHICH CLIENTS ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO BE WORKING WITH?
Our social is something I was keen to get stuck in to, and developing what had been built on the Red-Fern brand before I got here.
However I am excited to get working on strategies for new clients as our list expands, Issue Number One studios is a fun one as I’ve learnt a lot about movies I didn’t know before.
WHICH TOOLS DO YOU USE DAY TO DAY, OUT OF INTEREST?
I use scheduling tools like Planoly which is great for curating the perfect Instagram feed. As well as that I use Lightroom to perfectly edit all the photos and Canva for resizing and adding text.
ARE THERE ANY TV SERIES OR FILMS THAT YOU RECOMMEND AT ANY CHANCE THAT YOU GET?
My favourite TV show recently has been The Sinner on Netflix, I watched the whole thing in about two days because I was hooked. Aside from that my all time favourites are probably The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd.
WHERE’S YOUR FAVORITE NIGHT OUT SPOT?
I went to university in Leeds so that holds a lot of memories for me there’s no better night out than one that starts with an Otley Run. Aside from that Barcelona is my favourite city, the nightlife there is amazing.
ANY ALBUMS OR SONGS ON REPEAT AT THE MOMENT?
I’m behind with music and tend to listen to the same albums on repeat from when I was 15, some of my favourites are The Wombats, A Guide to Love Loss and Desperation and Biffy Clyro Only Revolutions.
